Aluminum foil fiber paper effectively blocks heat radiation and conduction by combining the high reflectivity (over 95%) of aluminum foil and the low thermal conductivity of fiber materials. For instance, when used in thermal pipeline networks, aluminum foil glass fiber cloth can reduce the surface temperature of pipelines by an average of 4°C, decrease heat loss by 40 kcal/m²·h, and save up to 5 tons of standard coal per 100m² in long-term applications.
The dense film structure of the aluminum foil also prevents air convection, further enhancing thermal insulation performance. This makes it ideal for insulating high-temperature equipment such as boilers and cracking furnaces.
(2) Moisture and Corrosion Resistance
Aluminum foil is inherently airtight and waterproof. When combined with fiber materials, it forms a dual protective barrier. For example, aluminum foil glass fiber cloth with a heat-sealed polyethylene interlayer offers extremely low water vapor permeability, reliably protecting insulation materials like glass wool from performance degradation caused by moisture.
Additionally, the surface is often treated with special anti-corrosion coatings, making it highly resistant to chemical erosion. It is widely used in corrosive environments such as chemical processing pipelines and petroleum transmission pipelines.
(3) Mechanical Protection
The fiber material (e.g., fiberglass) provides high tensile strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions, enhancing the mechanical durability of the aluminum foil fiber paper. For instance, aluminum foil glass fiber cloth offers higher mechanical strength than reinforced aluminum foil, making it suitable for in-line applications in glass wool and rock wool factories to protect insulation materials from external damage.
Reinforced aluminum foil, strengthened with fiberglass ribs, is often used as an outer protective wrapping for pipeline insulation, preventing mechanical damage during installation or operation.
