Inorganic fiber: a modern material with excellent performance

 

Inorganic fiber, a chemical fiber made from minerals, is playing an increasingly important role in modern industry and construction. Its main varieties are diverse, including glass fiber, quartz glass fiber, boron fiber, ceramic fiber, metal fiber, etc., each of which has unique physical and chemical properties.

The production process of inorganic fiber is quite unique. It is made by centrifugation after high-temperature melting of ore and coke in a certain proportion. This processing method gives inorganic fiber super hardness, strength and relatively low density, making it stand out among many materials.

Among many applications, the spraying technology of inorganic fiber is particularly eye-catching. This technology originated in North America in the 1980s and has now been widely used in developed countries and regions such as North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. This technology mixes inorganic ultrafine fiber cotton with a unique water-based adhesive and sprays it on the surface of the substrate through special equipment to form a complex three-dimensional network structure with excellent thermal insulation and sound absorption and sound insulation properties. This structure is not only condensation-resistant and wind-resistant, but also non-slip and highly adhesive, effectively protecting the substrate and structural surface from corrosive and humid gases.

The applications of inorganic fibers are far more than this. Glass fibers and asbestos are widely used in thermal insulation materials, metal fiber textiles are used to make special clothing to reduce the risk of electric shock, and alkaline glass fibers replace asbestos fibers in cement to improve cement performance. Boron fibers with tungsten cores are also used to make rocket shells because of their strong compressive resistance.
