Thermal Conductivity
Thermal conductivity is a core parameter for measuring the thermal insulation performance of a material. It refers to the amount of heat transferred per unit time (1 second) through an area of 1 square meter under steady-state heat transfer conditions when the material thickness is 1 meter and the temperature difference between the two sides is 1°C. The unit is W/(m·K). A lower value indicates better insulation performance. Rock wool boards for external walls typically require a thermal conductivity (at an average temperature of 25°C) of ≤0.040 W/(m·K).
Slag Ball Content
Slag balls are non-fibrous solid particles formed during the production of rock wool when high-temperature molten material is blown by high-speed airflow. The slag ball content directly affects the thermal conductivity, heat capacity, elasticity, and durability of rock wool boards, while also reflecting the level of production technology and slag removal effectiveness. Therefore, strictly controlling the slag ball content is one of the key indicators for ensuring the quality of rock wool boards.
Water Repellency Rate
The water repellency rate characterizes the material's ability to resist water penetration. It is evaluated by simulating a certain flow of water spray test and calculating the volume percentage of the sample that remains unpenetrated by water. A high water repellency rate effectively prevents the thermal insulation performance of rock wool boards from deteriorating due to moisture absorption, thereby extending their service life.
