Matters needing attention in the construction of rock wool strips

As a high-quality thermal insulation material, rock wool strips play an important role in the building exterior wall insulation system. In order to ensure the construction quality and safety, the complete process flow and precautions of rock wool strip construction are described in detail as follows:

1. Preparation before construction

Base treatment

Before construction, the base wall needs to be fully inspected to ensure that the wall flatness deviation does not exceed 4mm/2m. The defective parts such as hollows and cracks should be repaired, and the floating dust, oil and other impurities on the wall should be thoroughly removed. The concrete wall should be treated with an interface agent, and the brick wall should be sprinkled with water 24 hours in advance.

Material preparation

Rock wool strips should be selected from high-quality products with a density of ≥120kg/m³, and the thermal conductivity coefficient should not exceed 0.040W/(m·K). The special adhesive should be a polymer-modified cement-based material, and the anchor bolt should be a special insulation anchor bolt with a disc, and the length must penetrate the insulation layer and enter the base wall by no less than 50mm.

2. Construction process

Line positioning

According to the design drawings, use a laser level to pop out horizontal and vertical control lines on the wall to determine the layout of the rock wool strips. In principle, staggered joints should be used, and vertical joints should avoid the edges of door and window openings.

Adhesive construction

A process combining the strip sticking method and the point frame method is used:

Apply an adhesive strip about 60mm wide on the back of the rock wool strip

Apply a closed frame along the edge

Evenly arrange 8 adhesive points with a diameter of about 100mm in the middle

The adhesive application area should not be less than 60% of the area of the rock wool strip

Installation and fixation

Paste the rock wool strips coated with adhesive on the wall according to the line position, and use a 2m ruler to check the flatness. After the adhesive is initially set (about 24 hours), use an electric hammer to drill holes and install anchor bolts. The arrangement of anchor bolts shall meet the following requirements:

No less than 6 per square meter

The distance between the edge anchor bolt and the end bolt shall not exceed 100mm

The anchor bolts shall be evenly distributed in a plum blossom shape

Joint treatment

(1) Plate joint treatment: Use special caulking material to fill, and the filling depth shall not be less than 20mm

(2) Angle treatment: Use special corner guard strips to strengthen, and the rock wool strips at the corners shall be overlapped with dog teeth

(3) Opening treatment: The rock wool strips at the four corners of the door and window openings shall not be spliced, and the whole plate shall be cut and formed

3. Key points of quality control

Flatness control: Check with a 2m ruler, the surface flatness deviation shall be ≤4mm

Joint control: Plate seam width ≤2mm, height difference ≤1mm

Anchoring control: After the anchor bolt is installed, the disc shall be flush with the surface of the rock wool strip, and shall not protrude or sink

Waterproof treatment: All wall-penetrating pipes and embedded parts shall be waterproof and sealed around

4. Safety protection measures

Personal protection

Construction personnel must wear dust masks (it is recommended to use N95 grade =Don't wear puncture-proof gloves and long-sleeved work clothes. Wear goggles to prevent fibers from entering the eyes. Safety belts must be worn when working at heights. Environmental control. A warning area should be set up at the construction site. Work should be stopped when the wind speed is greater than level 5. Construction should not be carried out when the ambient temperature is lower than 5℃ or higher than 35℃. Waste disposal. Construction waste should be put into special sealed bags. It is forbidden to burn rock wool waste on site. Clean up the site after work every day to avoid fiber drifting. V. Finished product protection. Avoid rain erosion within 24 hours after construction. Heavy objects should not be directly piled on the surface of rock wool during subsequent construction. Before the exterior decoration construction, check whether the rock wool layer is damaged and repair it in time. VI. Common problem handling. Hollow drum problem: If the hollow drum area exceeds 5%, it must be reworked. Water seepage problem: Focus on checking the sealing of joints and anchor points. Fiber shedding: Use special curing agent spraying treatment. Conclusion: The construction quality of rock wool strips is directly related to the safety and durability of the building insulation system. The construction unit should strictly operate according to the specifications, and the supervision unit needs to strengthen process control. It is recommended to conduct a sample demonstration before construction, and then start large-scale construction after acceptance by all parties. At the same time, special attention should be paid to the occupational health protection of construction personnel to ensure safe production. Through standardized construction and strict management, the excellent performance of rock wool insulation materials can be fully utilized to provide reliable guarantee for building energy conservation.
