Performance and Classification of Ceramic Fiber Blankets

Ceramic fiber blankets, also known as aluminum silicate fiber blankets, are manufactured using a double-sided needle-punching process. This process significantly enhances fiber interlocking, delamination resistance, tensile strength, and surface flatness; therefore, they are also referred to as aluminum silicate needle-punched blankets. Ceramic fiber blankets contain no organic binders, ensuring good plasticity and structural stability under both high- and low-temperature operating conditions.

The product features a clean white color and uniform dimensions, integrating refractory performance, thermal insulation, and heat preservation functions. Even when used long-term in neutral or oxidizing atmospheres, it maintains good tensile strength, toughness, and fiber structure. With a temperature resistance range of 900°C to 1500°C, ceramic fiber blankets occupy a leading position in high-temperature pipeline insulation applications. They offer excellent thermal insulation performance and can significantly reduce heat loss. Their energy-saving efficiency can reach up to 1.2 times that of traditional insulation materials (such as insulating bricks). Ceramic fiber blankets are gradually replacing asbestos products, as they contain no harmful components and provide improved environmental and safety performance.

Classification of Ceramic Fiber Blankets

According to different manufacturing processes, ceramic fiber blankets are mainly divided into two types: spun blankets and blown blankets.

Spun Blankets:
These have relatively thicker and longer fibers, resulting in higher tensile and flexural strength. They are suitable for insulation environments that require higher mechanical strength and structural stability.

Blown Blankets:
These have finer fibers and lower thermal conductivity, offering superior insulation performance. Although their tensile and flexural strength are relatively lower, they are suitable for applications where high insulation performance is required and the risk of mechanical tearing is minimal.
