Quality Standards for Layered Installation of Ceramic Fiber Blankets

Ceramic fiber blanket layered structures are widely used due to their flexible material selection and high cost-effectiveness. This structure allows for precise matching of ceramic fiber blankets with different temperature grades, densities, and thicknesses according to the operating temperature of each layer, achieving optimal configuration of material performance. Its core advantage lies in the alignment of the fiber orientation parallel to the direction of heat transfer through the furnace wall after installation, thereby fully leveraging the insulation properties of the fiber material and significantly reducing heat loss from the furnace body.

I. Installation Process Requirements

Pre-arrangement and positioning must be conducted prior to construction. During formal installation, ceramic fiber blankets in adjacent layers should be staggered to avoid continuous seams that could create thermal bridges. High-temperature adhesive must be applied between layers to ensure firm bonding and maintain the overall structural stability of the lining.

II. Material Composition Standards

The alumina content of ceramic fiber blankets must strictly comply with national standards to meet the requirements of different operating temperatures:

1050 Ordinary Type: Alumina content ≥ 40%

Standard Type: Alumina content ≥ 43%

High-Purity Type: Alumina content ≥ 43%

High-Alumina Type: Alumina content ≥ 52%

Note: While the high-purity type and standard type share the same minimum alumina content, the former imposes stricter controls on impurity levels. Selection should be based on specific product classification and data sheets.

III. Lining Thickness Control

The total thickness of the furnace lining must comply with the insulation design specifications. The measurement method is as follows: after determining the length and width of the lining, uniformly mark nine measurement points. When using a needle-type thickness gauge, place its disk horizontally and gently on the surface of the lining, aligning the disk hole with the measurement point. Insert the needle tip vertically downward through the disk hole until it penetrates the fiber layer and contacts the base plate below. Gently press the gauge and read the thickness value.

IV. Surface and Sealing Inspection

Upon completion, the surface of the installed fiber lining should be flat, aesthetically pleasing, and uniformly compacted. For areas with local unevenness, clamps should be used for leveling. Any significant gaps must be carefully filled with ceramic fiber cotton of the same material to ensure the overall sealing integrity of the lining, with no continuous gaps present.
