The Ideal Structure for All-Fiber Furnace Linings: A Combined System of Modules and Layered Blankets

In the thermal design of industrial furnaces, full ceramic fiber linings have become the mainstream choice, except in specific furnace types with high abrasion, strong gas flow, or complex chemical environments. This preference stems from the exceptional high-temperature resistance and lightweight advantages of ceramic fiber. Such linings not only effectively reduce the shell surface temperature and lower fuel consumption but also enhance product quality and production efficiency, while extending the overall service life of the furnace.

Regarding the structural configuration of furnace linings, a combined solution using both ceramic fiber modules and ceramic fiber blankets is now widely favored.

Structural Selection and Technical Principles

When an industrial furnace adopts a full ceramic fiber lining, it should follow the heat transfer principle of decreasing temperature gradients, arranging fiber materials of corresponding grades across different temperature zones. This approach meets thermal performance requirements while ensuring cost-effectiveness and rationality.

Pure Layered Blanket Structure: This method typically involves welding anchor pins and studs to secure ceramic fiber blankets layer by layer to the furnace wall, often covered with stainless steel mesh to prevent detachment. However, installing multiple layers-especially with more than three different material types-is challenging. It is difficult to ensure installation quality and lining integrity, which can lead to weak points in the insulation.

Module + Layered Blanket Composite Structure: This solution uses ceramic fiber blankets laid flat as a backup lining in low-temperature zones, while ceramic fiber modules are installed on the hot face. The pre-compressed elastic design of the modules effectively compensates for fiber shrinkage at high temperatures, enhancing the sealing and structural stability of the lining. The overall lining is smooth and uniform, and the hot face can be sprayed with a hardening agent to effectively prevent fiber degradation and extend the lining's service life.

Core Advantages of the Combined Structure

Significantly reduces fuel consumption and increases per-cycle production capacity.

Effectively controls the furnace shell surface temperature, improving the working environment and safety.

Greatly extends the service life of the furnace and reduces maintenance frequency.

Reduces oxidation loss of workpieces and improves product yield.
