How To Maintain Ceramic Fiber Materials in High-temperature Operating Environments

Ceramic fiber products are resistant to high temperatures, fire, oil, acid and alkali corrosion, have good chemical stability, and have a long service life. Ceramic fibers will inevitably have some factors that reduce their service life due to bumps, sticking, etc. during long-term operation. During the service life of ceramic fiber blankets, boards, and modules, regular and correct maintenance of ceramic fiber blankets and modules can greatly extend the service life of ceramic fiber products and improve their thermal insulation performance.

1. Material selection

The premise of ensuring the long service life of ceramic fiber products is to first select materials with better quality, because the better materials are specially processed during production and manufacturing, which can provide a guarantee of anti-fouling, dust-proof and wear-resistant.

2. Inspection and prevention

During the construction, installation and use of ceramic fiber blankets, modules and other products, frequent inspection is an important step in prevention work

Before installing ceramic fiber products, check whether the ceramic fiber products are intact and whether they are polluted by rainwater. Ceramic fiber products that have been soaked in water are difficult to dry. Even if they are dried, they will have a certain impact on their thermal conductivity and reduce the insulation effect. Therefore, users of ceramic fiber products, especially those who purchase in large quantities, such as tunnel kiln customers and heat treatment customers, must take rain and moisture-proof measures when purchasing.

During the use of high-temperature insulation refractory wool, if any damage is found, it should be handled in time to minimize the loss.

3. Regular maintenance

After the user installs the module, in order to increase the wind erosion resistance of the fiber on the surface of the module, work for a longer time, and the surface is not damaged, a layer of high-temperature curing agent will be applied on the surface of the module. The curing agent is prepared from inorganic binders, dispersants, additives and other materials. The surface after curing becomes a ceramic hard shell. It can improve the erosion resistance of the fiber lining and the shaping of the lining, and extend the service life of the kiln fiber. The curing agent cures in about 12 hours at room temperature and in 2 hours in a drying environment (110°C). The kiln is regularly inspected, usually once a year. During this inspection period, a protective layer - high-temperature curing agent is applied. The kiln lining is applied once a year. For ceramic fiberboards, ceramic fiber special-shaped parts, etc. exposed to high-temperature hot surfaces, a reasonable coating cycle is selected according to the actual application for regular surface protection treatment.
