Among various refractory furnace lining materials, ceramic fiber modules continue to see increasing adoption due to their excellent cost-effectiveness and significant energy-saving and consumption-reducing effects. So, what are the reasons for their growing popularity in the refractory market? We can analyze this from the following perspectives:
01. Excellent Thermal Insulation
Ceramic fiber modules outperform traditional refractory bricks and castables in terms of thermal insulation. At high temperatures, their thermal conductivity is extremely low, providing excellent insulation. For example, at 1000°C, their thermal conductivity is only about 15% of that of refractory clay bricks and about 38% of that of lightweight clay bricks, second only to nano aerogel felt and nano insulation boards.
02. Excellent Refractory Temperature
Depending on the raw materials used, ceramic fiber modules have a long-term operating temperature range of 1000°C to 1400°C, significantly higher than the 500-700°C operating temperature of traditional fiber insulation materials such as rock wool and glass wool. Although slightly inferior to mullite refractory bricks and castables, ceramic fiber modules still outperform most nano-insulation materials in practical applications, particularly in high-temperature environments, offering greater stability.
03. Significant Economic Advantages
For the same insulation performance, the unit cost of ceramic fiber modules is generally lower than that of heavy refractory lining materials, and significantly lower than that of nano-insulation materials, offering significant cost-effectiveness.
Summary:
In summary, in conventional furnace insulation solutions-particularly in environments without high friction, strong acid and alkali atmospheres, and with wind speeds below 10 m/s-ceramic fiber modules offer a significant cost-effectiveness advantage over traditional heavy materials and high-end nano-insulation materials.
