Rockwool: Fireproof Guardian Of Construction And Industry

Rockwool, a material that sounds mysterious, is actually around us. It is not real "cotton", but an inorganic fiber made from natural rocks after high-temperature melting and fiberization. This special manufacturing process gives rockwool many unique physical and chemical properties.

The main raw materials of rockwool include natural rocks such as basalt, gabbro, and dolomite. These raw materials are melted in a furnace above 1450℃, and then centrifuged into fibers at high speed by a four-axis centrifuge. In this process, binders, dust-proof oils and water-repellent agents are also sprayed in to ensure the quality and performance of rockwool products. After a series of processes such as collection by cotton collectors, pendulum process, three-dimensional cotton laying, curing and cutting, rockwool products of different specifications and uses are finally formed.

Rockwool has a wide range of applications in construction and industry due to its excellent thermal insulation and fireproof functions. In construction, rockwool can be used as an exterior wall insulation material to effectively reduce energy loss and improve the energy-saving performance of buildings. At the same time, it can also play the role of fireproof partition, providing protection for people's life and property safety. In industry, rock wool can be used for thermal insulation of high-temperature equipment, reducing energy waste and improving production efficiency.

However, the water absorption of rock wool also brings some challenges. When used for exterior wall insulation, if it absorbs too much water, it may form freeze-thaw, cavity, powdering, shedding and other phenomena, posing a safety hazard. Therefore, when using rock wool, special attention should be paid to its installation and use environment to ensure its optimal performance.

Rock wool, this magical "fire guard", is playing an increasingly important role in the construction and industrial fields with its unique charm.
