What Are The Reasons For Problems in The Installation And Use Of Ceramic Fiber Furnace Linings?

Full fiber furnace lining

Full fiber ceramic fiber furnace lining refers to the composite structure of ceramic fiber module + ceramic fiber blanket used in the thermal insulation lining of industrial furnaces. Since ceramic fiber is a fibrous lightweight refractory material, it has the advantages of light weight, high temperature resistance, good thermal stability, low thermal conductivity, small specific heat and mechanical vibration resistance. Therefore, it is widely used in high-temperature kilns and industrial kilns in machinery, metallurgy, chemical industry, petroleum, ceramics, glass, electronics and other industries.

Generally speaking, the maintenance cycle of ceramic fiber module furnace lining is 3 to 5 years, and the furnace lining replacement cycle is 8 to 10 years. In some industries such as tunnel kilns, the service life is even more than 10 years. But why do modules have poor insulation effect or even fall off when installed and used in a small number of kilns?

01

Whether the insulation structure is reasonable is the primary factor

The structure of the ceramic fiber module furnace lining seems simple, but it is actually designed by professional thermal engineers after comprehensive calculation of thermal energy in terms of fuel consumption, temperature, and working environment. The pH value of the use environment and the influence of the kiln atmosphere, the flatness of the application location, the heat storage and heat dissipation of the furnace, and the selection of the furnace wall all affect whether the ceramic fiber module furnace lining is suitable.

02

Whether the construction quality is up to standard is a direct factor

The construction of the ceramic fiber module furnace lining is recommended to be carried out by a professional construction team or under the guidance of technical personnel to ensure the firmness and sealing of the ceramic fiber module installation.

The welding of the ceramic fiber module screw should be carried out in a full welding manner, and repeated inspections should be carried out to ensure the firmness of the screw welding.

The integrity and airtightness of the full fiber furnace lining largely determine the service life of the furnace lining. Once the sealing is not achieved, heat is easy to invade the weak points of the furnace lining, burn the anchors, and cause fire, which will cause the fiber furnace lining to fall off on a large scale.

03

The selection of materials for furnace lining should be based on the principle of "high rather than low"

Generally speaking, the refractory temperature should be several tens of degrees higher than the normal use temperature of the furnace.

Once it is used at over-temperature, it will be heated at high temperature for a long time, and the fiber will undergo crystallization, crystal phase transformation and grain growth, which will cause the ceramic fiber module to shrink too much, destroy the overall sealing of the furnace lining, and cause the fiber to pulverize or fall off.

Summary

Through the analysis of the above-mentioned insulation structure, construction quality, and material selection principles, the three corresponding causes of the problem must be paid attention to during installation and use, so as to better help everyone use the ceramic fiber module furnace lining, save energy, reduce consumption and reduce costs!
