To further implement green manufacturing principles and enhance the environmental and energy-saving performance of our products, our company has recently announced the successful completion of a comprehensive upgrade to the low-shot process on our soluble fiber module production line. This technical transformation has significantly reduced the shot content in the products while improving their efficiency and safety in high-temperature industrial furnace applications.
Technical Necessity of the Low-Shot Process
Shot refers to unfiberized particles within fibrous materials. Excessive shot content directly weakens thermal insulation performance, increases heat loss, and generates more dust during use. In conventional processes, shot content in soluble fiber modules typically ranges from 8% to 12%. Through dedicated R&D efforts and equipment upgrades by SUNTHERM engineers, our production line has now reached an advanced level within the industry.
Performance Improvements with the Low-Shot Process:
Enhanced insulation performance:
Increased fiber aspect ratio and more uniform porosity, resulting in approximately 8% lower thermal conductivity compared to previous processes;
Reduced dust and material loss:
Less airborne dust generated during production, cutting, and installation, improving working conditions and reducing waste;
Stronger environmental compliance:
Lower dust levels reduce respiratory exposure risks for workers, combined with the inherent biosolubility of fibers for dual health protection;
Extended lining service life:
A more uniform and refined fiber structure improves resistance to airflow erosion, especially suitable for petrochemical heaters and heat treatment furnaces.
Full-Process Optimization
This upgrade also included coordinated improvements in pulping, fiberizing, and fiber collection processes, resulting in a more uniform and stable furnace lining after installation. The upgraded low-shot soluble fiber modules are now in stable mass production across multiple lines and have been delivered to customers in petrochemical, steel, and ceramic industries, receiving positive feedback.
Future Development Direction
Our company will continue to focus on the technical pathway of "high efficiency, energy saving, cleanliness, and safety," promoting the green substitution and standard upgrading of soluble fiber modules in the refractory industry.
